Since our inception in 1981, the local members of Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Incorporated have been committed to the objectives of the fraternity. The monies raised and donated to various causes have been in support of stimulating the ambitions of the members of our community. preparing them for the greatest usefulness in the causes of humanity, freedom, and dignity of the individual; to encourage the highest and noblest form of manhood; and most importantly, to aid and assist downtrodden humanity in its efforts to achieve higher social, economic, and intellectual status.
With over $35,000 dollars awarded in scholarships to local students and over $25,000 raised for local charities, we continuously strive to serve as a beacon of light in the community for all of those in need. To further our services in the community and to expand upon the services that we provide, we have established the Onward and Upward Educational Foundation, Inc.
The Onward & Upward Educational Foundation, Inc. is a not-for-profit, 501 (c) (3) organization formed for the primary purpose of providing scholarships to local youth and increasing our charitable giving to another not-for-profit local, state and national charitable organizations with similar purposes and missions.

THE ONWARD & UPWARD FOUNDATION IS PROUD TO PARTNER WITH THE
NORMAL WEST HIGH SCHOOL BLACK STUDENT UNION.
THE NORMAL WEST BLACK STUDENT UNION WAS FORMED ON JUNE 4, 2019 WITH THE FOLLOWING PURPOSE:
"We, the members of the Normal West Black Student Union, in order to promote a more perfect union; to aid and promote positivity through Black culture; to insist upon the personal progress and academic excellence of its members; to build the capacity for student leadership; to encourage the participation of community service inside and outside of the school community; to destroy all prejudices; to eradicate racism, do hereby enact and establish this Constitution for the government of its members."
Since its inception, the Normal West BSU has been actively involved in eradicating racism in the Bloomington-Normal communities and providing countless hours of community service. In the aftermath of the recent killing of George Floyd, the Normal West Black Student Union has been on the frontlines raising their voices in support of systemic change on the federal, state, and local levels. In support of their efforts, we are collecting tax-deductible donations to assist their mission and continued purpose.
